OX-W hard anodizing of aluminum

Durox Srl of Remanzacco (UD), a company specialised in aluminum anodizing with more than 40 years of experience, offers a special treatment called OX-W that improves the characteristics of hard anodizing and produces a more compact and uniform aluminum-oxide layer, with lower roughness and higher corrosion resistance.

It provides high salt-spray corrosion resistance with reduced anodizing thicknesses and on alloys that are difficult to anodize, such as 2000-series alloys and cast or die-cast alloys with a high silicon content. On some alloys it exceeds 1,000 hours of neutral salt spray without corrosion. It is also used on parts for gas distribution and control (methane, hydrogen and oxygen) where low surface roughness, high corrosion resistance and very good resistance to wear and scratches are required.

Roughness can be kept within Ra 0.40 even with high coating thicknesses. The treatment conforms to MIL-A-8625 Type III, ISO 10074 and UNI 7796.

Electroless nickel Niplate eXtreme

Born from a research and development project of the Micron Coatings Group team, Niplate eXtreme is an electroless nickel coating that increases corrosion resistance, especially on aluminum.

All aluminum alloys can be coated, including those that are difficult to anodize, such as the 7000 and 2000 families used in aerospace and racing (F1 and MotoGP), and cast and die-cast alloys with a high silicon content.

The coating is a metallic layer with a colour similar to stainless steel, which keeps its colour and brightness over time thanks to high chemical resistance. It also provides good electrical and thermal conductivity.

Low porosity, excellent adhesion and high chemical resistance give Niplate eXtreme on aluminum the best corrosion resistance among the various types of electroless nickel, reaching and exceeding 720 hours of neutral salt spray (NSS) without corrosion. The coating has high surface hardness, so it resists wear and scratches while keeping appearance and corrosion resistance unchanged.

Coating thickness is uniform and constant over the whole surface, including holes, which suits precision-mechanical parts with tight tolerances and complex geometries.
